Alright same idea as I explained in the topic for Essay 3 I guess

Essay 7

Law and Religion
- Religion
• While mycenean cities fell, only farming and RELIGION remained the same
• Amateurism/lack of personnel – It is for everybody, can be practiced by anybody in ancient Greece as opposed to Persia (only magi)
• Absence of dogma
• Based on hope – you have to pray, no guarantee - can’t expect anything in return, just hope
• Public, communal
• Followed procedure
• Not to ensure moral purity
- Law
• Each polis had its own scheme
• Common features however:
1. Few physical structures
2. The assembly
3. Personnel are few
4. Procedure order as always
5. Nomos
Is the shield a metaphor for law and religion coming together?

Basically to get things done and maintain order so that society does not collapse and fall into its natural state of war
